Boyd Mound Site
Boyd Site holds an unexpected secret. It started as two American Indian mounds, built separately hundreds of years ago by people who continued a tradition that was fading in most of the area. Many years later mound building was returning as a tradition and a third mound was built over the original mounds.
Originally much taller, after the 1830s, erosion and farming whittled the mound to its current size. This mound represents goth the continuation and rebirth of traditional spiritual practices and remains sacred to the Choctaw Indians and other tribal nations.
